WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

In October North Texas Rehab suspended its Early Childhood Intervention program because of state funding cuts, leaving many questions for more than 50,000 Texas families.
But thanks to Helen Farabee and Roddy Atkins, Executive Director, E.C.I. has a new home and many people are excited and relieved.
The Early Child Intervention program provides educational, therapeutic and case management for kids from birth to three-years-old.
However in Texoma program officials have been searching for an organization after the state of Texas cut $350 million dollars, forcing North Texas Rehab to cut the program.
That is when Atkins stepped in.
"The job of these kinds of services is to help people be able to have a better quality of life and to be able to contribute and be productive in society," Atkins said.
That is why he worked to changed some of the funding and added the program to Helen Farabee.
Will any parts of the program change with the change of location?
"We will continue to deliver the services that have historically been there before," Atkins said. "And what we hope is that in the future those will continue as is."
That includes most services remaining home-based.
Charlcie Flinn, the E.C.I. Program Director, has overlooked the program for more than three decades.
Flinn said it was a very rough time when the state gashed so much funding, but she is optimistic for the future and believes it is the best kept secret.
Soozie Richardson, an E.C.I. parent, said she does not know what she would do without the program and looks forward to it getting back on track.
Atkins is glad to help these people affected.
"It is personally satisfying to me that we can address and assure that a need will continue to be addressed in this community," Atkins said.
The Helen Farabee Center is hosting an open house next Thursday, December 1st, -- from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 to celebrate.
There will also be a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m.
