WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Nearly 40-percent of all Black Friday Shopping this year was done on mobile apps and the sales are not over.
Tech experts and a local business spoke to News Channel 6 Sunday about Cyber Monday sales and online shopping safety.
"It was the beginning of online shopping in the internet world," Terry McAdams, owner of MacTech Solutions said.
Following Black Friday, Cyber Monday is the next discount shopping day consumers take advantage of across the country.
Local businesses are hoping to cash in on the craze.
"All year long the community has given to us, so we want to try to give back to the community," Jimmy Carpenter with Gun Co Arms said.
This is the second year Gun Co Arms has taken part in Cyber Monday.
"When you shop here at Gun Co Arms you're basically shopping with a local business. We are locally owned and locally operated. We are your brothers and sisters out there in the field," Carpenter said.
Carpenter said security measures are in place to ensure customers can shop on their website without worry. While this is comforting, Terry McAdams with
MacTech Solutions said shoppers need to be paying close attention before cashing out online.
"Make sure you're on the right site. Make sure that the lock is up in the corner in your web browser," McAdams said.
Whether you plan to shop small and local or big box stores this Cyber Monday, it is slated to be one for the books.
