Ibaka tabbed LSC Defensive Player of the Week

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Midwestern State junior Igor Ibaka earned Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week as released by league officials Tuesday afternoon.
 
The 6-8, 240-pound forward from Brazzaville, Congo averaged 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per game leading the 20th-ranked Mustangs to a pair of regional wins at the Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic last weekend in Grand Junction, Colo.
 
Ibaka knocked down 5-of-8 shots to finish with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal in a 75-63 win over Western State Colorado, then notched his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds in a 74-57 win over Colorado Mesa.
 
The Mustangs limited the opposition to 60 points and a 34.2 field goal percentage to improve to 6-1 on the season.
 
Eastern New Mexico senior guard Cornell Neal averaged 22.5 points while leading the Greyhounds to wins over Southern Nazarene and Wayne State (Neb.) last weekend at the Pak-a-Sak Thanksgiving Classic in Canyon.
 
Midwestern State opens league play by taking on rival and 16th-ranked Tarleton State Thursday night at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
 
The Mustangs close the weekend with another road game at Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.
