Wichita Falls woman holds fundraiser to help Haiti

WICHITA FALLS, TX -

A Wichita Falls woman is giving up three months of her life to help children in Haiti, and you can help too.

Cree Calloway and her mentor, who has volunteered in Haiti multiple times, prepared the spaghetti plates for Friday's fundraiser.

The money raised will go straight to helping Haitian children who stay at the Welcome Home Orphanage.

During Calloway's last trip to Haiti in 2015, she helped build and fund the orphanage with her missionary group.

Now Calloway wants to go back to help provide those children with food, clothes and to teach them English.

Calloway adds, the last time she went they taught vacation bible school classes.

She said it was an eye-opening experience that touched her heart.

“For me I think seeing that even though people have real problems they still believe and lean on God and trust in him, even though they don't have food, they don’t have shelter they don’t have things like that,” Calloway said. "It taught me that my situation is not that bad, and if they can trust in god then I can do the same thing,” she said.

The plates are ten dollars apiece and will come with pasta, salad, cookies and bread. Calloway will also be accepting donations that will go towards the trip.

This is her third time going to Haiti. She said when she comes back to the states she hopes to raise even more money to go back for a whole year.

The fundraiser is being held Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 5506 Lucky Lane in Wichita Falls. You can also give donations.
