Wichita Christian students raise money to buy toys for WFFD

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Wichita Christian students presented the Wichita Falls Fire Department with toys Thursday morning.
All thanks to money raised through operation Santa.
The annual event gives the students an opportunity to see how their small change can make a big difference in the community.
"When we heard about the theft of the toys, we decided that we needed to step up our efforts just a little bit," Bonnie McCabe, a PCE for Wichita Christian said. "So we challenged our kids that if they could raise $4,000 dollars, we would take all of them, kindergarten through 6th grade, shopping at Walmart to pay for the toys."
"They should be very proud of themselves," Randy Reel, Battalion Chief for the Wichita Falls Fire Department said. "They are helping those who are less fortunate. They have done an outstanding job. I can't say enough about them. I'm almost speechless."
The kids raised $2,300 dollars on top of the $4,000 dollars.
The money was made through chores, donations and saving up.
