WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

A new bridge will be coming to the falls waterfall along with work on the bike trail.
Wichita Falls city council voted to move forward with the project after they received bids around $362,000 for construction.
Jim Dockery, the Deputy City Manager, said the bridge will be expanded so that vehicles can drive over.
He also believes the construction will make it safer for everyone.
"It will replace the old wooden structure that's at the base of the falls," Dockery said. "The bridge will go over the falls and river with a more solid steel concrete type bridge, rather than the old wooden bridge that is beyond it's useful life."
The bike trail will also be extended east of the bridge and bypass part of the existing trail.
The city will pay the maximum amount of $53,800.
