WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The city of Wichita Falls now has a full council seated.
Following an executive session, Tuesday morning Mayor Stephen Santellana announced Romeo Montez III as the applicant to take the district 5 seat on the council.
That spot was left vacant by re-elected councilor Tom Quintero in late 2016.
Montez, a Wichita Falls native and U.S. Army veteran was one of four people vying for the spot.
Mayor Santellana said his more than three decades of military experience will be an asset to serving on the council.
Montez is ready to take on the new position.
"I'm looking forward to talking to all the other council members and getting their assessments and wisdom. As far as the constituents of my district, I'm looking forward to getting out and joining the community meetings and see what's going on and see how we can make a difference as a team in this great and wonderful city," Montez said.
Montez was voted in unanimously and will hold the position until elections this November.
