Montague VFD receives grant to purchase new brush truck

MONTAGUE COUNTY,TX (KAUZ) -

The Montague Volunteer Fire Department has received a new brush truck to add to their fleet, thanks to a grant provided by the Texas A&M Forest Service.

The $95,000 grant allowed the department to purchase a 2016 Ford F-550 which holds 500-gallons of water and includes a foam system and a front bumper mounted water cannon.

“We retired a 1965 brush truck that we built out ourselves,” Montague Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Tommy Fenoglio said in a press release. “It didn’t have all of the updates that this new truck has. We put a lot of time and thought into getting the right equipment that would allow the department to best serve the community.”

Montague VFD covers an area of 116 square miles and serves a population of about 2,000 residents.
