Junior League helps fight hunger in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX -

It was a food fight across Texas Saturday.  A fight to stop hunger that is.
March is hunger awareness month and the Junior League of Wichita Falls is helping stop hunger by hosting the 2nd annual “Food Fight” event.
Several Junior Leagues across Texas took part in the competition Saturday, getting donations for their local area food banks.

Saturday, the Junior League of Wichita Falls was taking donations for the Wichita Falls Area Food bank at United Supermarkets.

It's amazing for us to all come together for one purpose, said Crystal Short, a coordinator with the Junior League of Wichita Falls.  We're all just giving our time and our efforts and our money and food to help our community it's amazing.

Within the first hour of donations, the league had already collected 6,000 pounds of food for the food bank.
