UPDATE: 2 Vernon College students killed in crash

A crash claims the life of two Vernon College students and leaves two other students seriously injured.

Investigators tell our CBS affiliate KTAB, the crash happened Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m. on Highway 277 at Country Club Road in Haskell County.

Vernon College Rodeo Team member, Yancie McCuistion, of Sugar City, Colorado and Vinita Trevino, of Petrolia, Texas were killed.

According to DPS, one of the students injured is listed in critical condition, and the other is listed in serious condition.

DPS Investigators also confirmed the driver of a second vehicle was injured when the students ran a stop sign.  That 73-year-old man was transported to Haskell Memorial Hospital and remains in serious condition.

Vernon College issued the following statement on its Facebook page Sunday morning:

"Vernon College extends concern and support for members of our rodeo team and the Vernon College student involved in a vehicle accident. Sincere condolences to the family of Yancie McCuistion and continued prayers for Drew Hill, Jakob Plummer, Vinita Trevino and their families."  

The investigating is ongoing.
