BOWIE, TX (KAUZ) -

The Central Hospital of Bowie is just days away from opening.

The hospital’s CEO Faraz Hashmi said there is no hard date set just yet, but they are very close to opening up.

He said they are in the process of training their staff of about 40 on the new protocols and programs to make sure they feel comfortable.

There are plans for mock patient trials to be sure the medical crew knows how to handle all of the paperwork and is prepared to take on patients.

The hospital will offer the core services like an emergency room and x-rays at first and surgery will come soon after.

The closing of Bowie Memorial Hospital back in November of 2015 caused a lot of people to lose their jobs and even forced some in need of constant medical care to move out of the city.

Hashmi said it is a privilege and a blessing to contribute to the community.

He adds he is aware of the job loss and just wants to do their part to reignite the fire that has always kept the city alive.

He also said he appreciates the support from the community, and some of the employees said they cannot wait to get back to work.

Hashmi said we can expect another update within the next couple of days
