WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Wichita Falls High School head coach Paul Sharr and Vernon coach Mark Bateman both stepped down from their positions Tuesday.
Sharr resigned after one season, leading the Coyotes to a 1-9 record. He came to Wichita Falls from Marshall, where he was an assistant coach. He previously was head coach for five seasons at Fort Worth Brewer. He has an overall 24-36 record as a head coach.
"We wish Paul and his family the best," WFISD Athletic Director Scot Hafley said Tuesday. "We will sit down in the next couple of days and establish a timeline and process."
Bateman asked to be reassigned as Vernon ISD's alternative education principal for the final year of his contract, after spending five seasons as head coach of the Lions. He compiled a 32-27 record, including 27-11 over his first three seasons. Before that he spent many years as an assistant coach in Vernon and was head coach in Electra. For his career he posted an overall 134-93-4 record.
