Local JCPenney store celebrates 100 years in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

JCPenney is celebrating 100 years in Wichita Falls on Friday. 

Founder James Cash Penney established his first store in Texas in downtown Wichita Falls on March 31, 1917. 

This Friday, the store's general manager, Kathleen Lauck, and special guests will be blowing out 100 birthday candles for the celebration. 

Wichita Falls Mayor Stephen Santellana and other local officials will be speaking at the event.

Former Dallas Cowboys Linebacker and Hall of Famer, Charles Haley will also make a special appearance and sign autographs. 

Following the ceremony, the first 100 customers will receive an envelope containing a coupon worth $10 off $10 or $100 of $100 or more purchase, as well as swag bags with products the store salon, Sephora and inside JCPenney while supplies last. 

The ceremony is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and the giveaways will begin at 10:00 a.m.
