WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Midwestern State senior Jared Baker garnered Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week honors as released by league officials Wednesday afternoon.

The Holliday High product fired a career-low round of 64 on his way to his second collegiate win this week at the St. Edward's Invitational played at the Onion Creek Golf Club.

Baker carded rounds of 72, 68 and 64 for a 6-under total of 204, but need two playoff holes to clinch the win over Missouri Southern's Connor Neil in a tiebreaker.

His efforts helped the Mustangs overcome a 12-stroke deficit heading into the final round to claim their first team victory of the season.

Baker's 6-under 204 stands as the second lowest 54-hole total in program history. His second career win produced his sixth and seventh round in the 60s.

Baker has notched par-or-better scores in 19 of his 83 collegiate rounds (23 percent).

The tournament lowered his season stroke average to 71.94 as Baker rates 18th in NCAA Division II according to his GolfStat ranking.

Midwestern State competes in the Dallas Baptist Classic next week at the Hackberry Creek Country Club.
