Oil spill in Wichita Falls backs up traffic briefly

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Hazmat crews cleaned up an oil spill in Wichita Falls Thursday afternoon.

Just before 5:00 p.m. a tractor trailer was turning onto Central Freeway from Airport Road when a diesel line under the motor blew.

Wichita Falls Fire Department officials said that caused about 10 gallons of oil to spill over a big area of the roadway.

The oil crept up to the I44 on-ramp.

There were no injuries reported but traffic was backed up while crews cleaned the area.

The stretch was reopened at 6:00 p.m.
