WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - You've seen them fly in the sky but several Sheppard Air Force Base airmen can also soar to the rim on the court.
Some local airmen played their first season in a basketball league consisting of only military installations following the base's decision to bring back the sport after a long hiatus.
The basketball players said they love playing the game they enjoy.
"Yeah it's serious we're out here playing basketball," Christopher Youngblood the team's head coach said.
"We want to win but if you're not here having fun then you're out here for nothing. We're out here to enjoy the game and play the game we love."
The players said it also helps build teamwork.
"We have a lot of comradery," Fathez Bradford, one of the players, said. "All these guys come from different places all over the world. We come together. We put it all together for one team, one purpose and that's to win."
They played against Dyess Air Force team, out of Albine, today. They prepared for the playoffs in Kansas taking place later this month.
