WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - As the Wichita Falls Nighthawks return home from a long, 3-games-in-4-weeks road trip, they made a big trade Wednesday.
The team traded lineman Jordan Mosely to their most recent opponent, Arizona, and in return got 2016 IFL Offensive Player of the Year, receiver Demarius Washington. The 6'4, 205-pounder played last season with Colorado, where he led the league in receiving yards, was 2nd in receiving touchdowns with 25 and 3rd in receptions.
In 3 games so far this season with the Rattlers, he had 16 catches for 215 yards and 4 touchdowns, including 4 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Nighthawks' 60-53 win over Arizona Saturday.
Also this week, Nighthawks quarterback Charles McCullum, the reigning IFL Most Valuable Player, earned his second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season. He completed 20-of-27 passes Saturday for 256 yards and 7 touchdowns, including the game-winner to Jordan Jolly with 3 seconds left.
The Nighthawks (5-1) will host the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles (1-4) this Saturday at 7:05 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. The Screaming Eagles are the "Fanchise" team in the IFL, with all play calls and team decisions made by the fans.
