WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - New water meters continue being installed throughout Wichita Falls and the project should be completed this summer.
According to Blake Jurecek, Director of I.T. and Facilities, all the meters are installed on the southwest side of town.
In fact, the city has started billing many of those customers.
He said over 70 percent of the new meters have been installed.
"We are scattered out throughout the city now," Jurecek said. "We move from the areas we are actually reading and billing to the sections that we are installing. So we are moving around. We are throughout most of the city now."
The city expects to complete the project by the end of June and start billing all customers.
The new meters are supposed to be 99 percent accurate, can be read electronically, and will allow for more water conservation efforts.
