WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Wichita Falls man is behind bars after police said he endangered children in his care.
Saturday night officers were called out to Kell Boulevard W at the Kemp Boulevard exit for an accident.
During the investigation, police said De'Kendrick Young, 28, told them he was driving 60 mph when he took the Kemp Boulevard exit and tried to use his emergency brake to stop because he said he knew the brakes in the vehicle were not working properly.
A 3-year-old and 5-year-old child were in Young's car at the time of the accident.
Three vehicles involved and officers said Young's vehicle was responsible for causing the accident.
Neither of the children was in safety seats and both were taken to the hospital.
Young was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Abandoning of Endangering a Child.
Young is also facing a Forgery charge for an unrelated incident that took place in late February.
Police said he opened a bank account at a local credit union and negotiated fake checks.
