WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Completion of the Wichita Falls Circle Trail is coming in the near future.
Tuesday council members passed a resolution to allow the city to apply for three grants to complete the trail.
That money would finish it from Seymour to Barnett, Loop 11 to Lucy Park and along the north shoreline of Lake Wichita.
Director of Parks and Recreation, Jack Murphy, said they are excited to move forward.
"It is exciting that the light is at the end of the tunnel," Murphy said. "And it is pretty amazing that after many years of working on the circle trail, we can see the end."
The total cost of the three grants combined is a little more than $5.5 million dollars.
Murphy said the trail is an asset to the city and will help with tourism in the future.
This weekend there will be a circle trail tour. Get the details here.
