MSU football player arrested for sexual assault

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Midwestern State University football player is behind bars after a sexual assault was reported on campus Sunday night.

Just before 11:00 p.m. the victim told campus police she returned to her dorm room and found a black male who stood 5'6" with a stocky build standing in her room.

She said the suspect looked at her and said something to the effect of "You are going to show me how Harold liked it" before grabbing her wrists and throwing her to the floor.

The victim said she was able to fight back and stand up but was again forced back onto the floor by the suspect.

She said the suspect then pulled her up onto the bed and sexually assaulted her.

The victim said in an arrest affidavit she did not know the suspect, did not give him permission to enter the room and did not consent to any kind of sexual encounter with him.

The victim said she was able to send an SOS message to two friends who rushed back to her dorm and saw the suspect on top of the victim. When the suspect saw the friends he grabbed his clothes and ran out of the room.

The friends told police they got a good look at the suspect and said he was a football player for MSU.

When shown photos of the MSU Football Team roster one witness positively identified Rodney Roshunn Higgins, Jr., 19, as the suspect.

The victim stated she was positive the suspect was a football player due to her previous experience as an athletic trainer for the football team.

When the victim looked through the roster she stopped at the photo of Higgins, Jr. and said "I'm pretty sure that's him." adding he had cut his hair since the football photo was taken.

Higgins, Jr. was arrested on Monday and is sitting in the Wichita County Jail on a $20,000 bond.

Higgins, Jr. played multiple sports at Wichita Falls High School and was a standout for the football team. He is listed as a cornerback on the MSU football roster.
