Groundbreaking ceremony today for new YMCA in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX - The local Wichita Falls YMCA Bill Bartley Branch will celebrate the groundbreaking for new extensions to the complex.

A total of $14 million worth of upgrades including nearly 80,000 square feet will be added onto the southern end of the property.

The new extensions include a full double court gymnasium, indoor soccer/multi-purpose facility, gymnastics center, grand entry plaza, and much more.

The new additions also include a new early childhood & youth development center with infant/toddler/pre-school classrooms, before/after school rooms, a youth library, cafeteria, conference room, and new age-appropriate playgrounds.

This afternoon from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the YMCA will be celebrating the groundbreaking with free live music, hot dogs, inflatable slides, bounce house, and more family fun activities.

YMCA Mission Advancement Director Noel Filer said she's excited to see the new facility open up more opportunities for local youth in Wichita Falls.
