New Water Meter project expected to help save customers money

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The new smart water meter installation project is almost complete.

As of Tuesday, the project is at 80 percent completion.

The new smart water meter system can help customers monitor their water usage online with a user portal. It can help customers identify leaks right away because they monitor water usage on an hourly basis.

"In our old system, you can have a slow leak that grows over time," Blake Jurecek Wichita Falls Director of Information Technology and Facilities. "It could be three, six, eight months before you ever know it."

A regular home would have lows and peaks on the water usage graph but a home with a water leak will have a consistent bar on their graph.

The user portal will be on the Wichita Fall government website once all the water meters are installed which is estimated 90 days from now.
