WICHITA COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) - More road projects are scheduled this year in Wichita County and commissioners will soon have the materials to begin the work.
On Monday, commissioners awarded bids for materials like gravel, asphalt, and concrete.
Precinct 4 Commissioner, Jeff Watts, said it is something they do twice a year because the prices can change drastically.
"We saw a large decrease in some of those oils that we use to resurface or seal chip county roads with," Commissioner Watts said. "Asphalt has come down, some of the rock prices, and fuel for the trucks to haul that material has also declined."
Commissioner Watts said, on average, they spend around $2 million on road materials each year.
He added that all road projects are on schedule to be completed by the end of the year.
