WICHITA COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) - Wichita County Commissioners are taking, what they call, a very important next step leading up to the construction of the new jail.
On Monday, they took action to spend $25,000 on a geotechnical evaluation.
Precinct 4 Commissioner, Jeff Watts, said the purpose of this project is to make sure there is nothing underground, like bedrock, that could delay the project or prevent construction.
"They'll dig some large pilot holes to determine where the rock is at," Commissioner Watts said. "And they'll set those peers down to the rock and get a good foundation on all of that."
Commissioner Watts said this project is critically important because they need to have a solid foundation to build on.
He added that it is just another step in the right direction.
