WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Wichita Falls teen is behind bars charged with robbery in connection to an incident at Beverly Quick Stop.
On May 21, 2017, police were called out to the store located in the 1400 block of Beverly Drive for a robbery.
When officers arrived they found the store clerk bleeding from injuries to her face. She told police a black male had entered the store and approached her as she sat behind the counter.
The suspect hit the clerk in the face and then made his way behind the counter and grabbed the clerk by the back of the neck.
The suspect then forced the clerk to open the register. The suspect took $400 from the register and fled the scene.
Video surveillance showed the same suspect entering the store an hour before the crime without anything covering his face
Video surveillance of the incident was published on the Newschannel 6 website in an effort to ask the public for tips.
A Crime Stoppers tip was received identifying Raymond Charlie Durham, Jr., 18, as the suspect. The tip also included an address Durham was living.
Officers took a photo of Durham, added it to a photo lineup, and showed the store clerk. The clerk identified Durham as the suspect from the robbery.
Detectives went to the address mentioned in the tip and spoke to the residents about the crime. They said Durham had lived there but had left about a month earlier.
The detective showed the residents the surveillance video of the crime to those who personally knew Durham and they positively identified Durham from the video.
Durham was arrested on Monday and is currently sitting in the Wichita County Jail. His bond is set at $25,000.
