WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Local children got to put their artistic skills to use Wednesday on snow plow blades.

The Texas Department of Transportation along with the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture let children from the Burkburnett Boys and Girls Club and Southside Youth Center in Wichita Falls paint two large snow plow blades.

The plows served as a large canvas for the kids to express themselves. Snow plows are occasionally painted in West Texas but this is a first for the Wichita Falls district according to TxDOT.

The snow plows will be unveiled for the public at the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture event on July 15.

"I am so excited that we were able to partner with the Alliance and the Clubs on this project.  The kids are using the plows to display community pride and we are hoping to bring this project to other communities in our nine counties", said Adèle Lewis, Public Information Officer for TxDOT.

These plows will be on freeways all winter long for motorists to see as well.
