WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Wichita Falls man has been sentenced to six years in prison and 12 months in state jail for Evading Arrest of Detention with a Vehicle and Abandoning or Endangering a Child.
On May 10, 2016, Michael John Cyphers, 36, lead police on a high-speed chase that began near Buchanan Street before crashing at the intersection of Miami Avenue and Sante Fe Street.
A woman and Cyphers' 4-year-old son were left in the vehicle while Cyphers fled on foot.
CPS took custody of the boy at the time. When questioned by detectives, Cyphers said he thought he was driving around 80 to 90 miles per hour while trying to flee officers.
Cypher's plead guilty to both charges in 89th District Court on Thursday.
Cypher's was given credit for 248 days served for both sentences.
