WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Texas Knifeworks and Guns in Wichita Falls is expanding so they can offer more guns, knives, and accessories.
On Friday they held a grand opening. Ted Knox Jr. has a passion for guns and knives.
That is why he is so excited about the expansion.
"It allows us to get more guns on this side of the store and put all the accessories on that side," Knox Jr. said.
He was able to buy the store next door and turn it into a showcase for accessories. Knox Jr. then hired Jim Lawrence to manage it.
"We never know what's going to come in here," Lawrence said. "But I know what's coming next door. It's the stuff he trades for. I find a place for it and people come buy it."
Knox Jr. said they have seen the changes in state gun laws affect their sales.
"We've seen a large increase in the last four years," he said.
Lawrence said they saw a large spike during the Obama Administration, which contributed to the expansion.
Knox Jr. said it could also mean more jobs in Wichita Falls.
"As we continue on and the busier we get, we will be hiring more people," he said. "We've got several right now that are doing real good, and a few part-time people."
Lawrence and Knox Jr. both said none of this would be possible without the support of the community.
"They're the people that actually pay our paychecks," Lawrence said. "So the community is everything. We reach out to them."
"We love the Wichita Falls area," Knox Jr. said.
He also said he does not know how many jobs the expansion will create, adding they want to see how business goes.
Their grand opening will continue Saturday and be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
