Quanah educator died following single-vehicle crash

FOARD COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) -

Newschannel 6 has learned more about the crash that claimed the life of longtime Quanah educator and coach Mike Hale. 

The 63-year-old was driving south on State Highway 6 in Foard County around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday when his pickup crossed the Northbound lanes and entered the east side ditch. 

Hale's pickup struck a few small trees before colliding head-on with a large tree causing serious injuries. DPS officials said they do not know at this time why Hale crossed traffic before crashing. 

He died from his injuries around 6:25 p.m. at United Regional in Wichita Falls. 

DPS officials said he was wearing his seatbelt. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
