WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

An apartment fire forces a Wichita Falls family from their home Saturday night.

Battalion Chief Todd Mudd, with the Wichita Falls Fire Department, said the fire happened around 9:10 p.m. on the 1700 block of Cimarron Trail.

He said the blaze was confined to one bedroom in an upstairs unit and was put out quickly by about 17 firefighters. That room where the fire started was damaged but the rest of the apartment only had smoke damage. The total cost of the damage has been determined to be around $6000.

No injuries were reported and Red Cross was called out to help the family.

Chief Mudd said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
