WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

The Wichita County Sheriff's Office Quarterly Ceremony was held Wednesday afternoon.

Several new deputies were sworn in and a list of current deputies were promoted in rank.

Awards were also given to two deputies and a sergeant who diffused a potentially deadly encounter this month by convincing a woman who was threatening to kill herself to put down a gun she was holding before she was safely taken into custody.

"Once again, these are some awesome employees we have working here. We're going through some budget time right now and we're really hoping to keep everything on the ship floating in the right direction and hopefully with God's grace will be able to do that and keep everyone safe as well," Sheriff David Duke said.

Local business Larry Ayres was also honored for going above and beyond helping deputies keep their patrol vehicles clean at All American Super Car Wash.
