Filing is now open for the Wichita Falls City Council

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Eric West, who is currently serving as District 1 City Councilor for Wichita Falls, filed his request to be on the November general election ballot to keep his spot on the council.

"The time is right for positive changes in Wichita Falls. The council, staff, and supporting agencies have worked very hard this past year planning and setting the stage for significant actions to benefit our residents," West said in a statement.
West was appointed to the council in December 2016 when Stephen Santellana vacated the position after being elected mayor last November.

"I was honored to be appointed last year, and I've worked very hard to earn the trust of the residents in my district who will now have the opportunity to vote for me themselves," West said. "There is so much involved in serving as a city councilor, and nothing is as important as listening to those I represent and working to take actions on their behalf – it's the absolute best part of the job," West said in a statement.

So far, West is the only councilor who has filed. For a look at the positions and requirements click here.
