WASHINGTON, D.C. (KAUZ) - U.S. Congressman Mac Thornberry (R) Texas 13th District released a statement Friday morning following the Senate's failed attempt at passing a so-called "skinny repeal" of the Affordable Care Act.
The statement, released on Congressman Thornberry's Facebook page can be seen below.
In it, Thornberry expresses his disappointment with the outcome. The vote was 49-51 with three Republicans joining all Democrats in voting 'no.'
One of those Republicans was Senator John McCain, (R) Arizona.
In a tweet, McCain said the repeal bill, "fell short of our promise to repeal & replace Obamacare w/ meaningful reform," adding, "I hope we can rely on humility, cooperation & dependence on each other to better serve the people who elected us."
Thornberry said Congress must 'continue to work to stop the harmful effects of this law, control costs, and put patients in charge of their health care."
