Oklahoma man arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

An Oklahoma man is in the Wichita County Jail with a lengthy list of charges. 

Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday the Wichita Falls Police Department was called out to the alley behind the 1600 block of Beverly Drive in reference to an unknown vehicle accident. 

When officers arrived they found a black pickup truck and a man sitting in the driver's seat. 

The man identified himself as Billy Harris. Officers ran the tags on the vehicle and it came back stolen.

The suspect told officers he had just purchased the vehicle a few hours ago, According to the arrest affidavit, the suspect did not have a bill of sale and did not know who the previous owner was.

Officers did not buy his story and arrested him for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

As he was being booked into jail he was positively identified as Thomas Wayne Harris, 44, of Devol, Oklahoma. A charge of Failure to Identify was added.

Upon the positive identification is was also discovered that Harris has several warrants out for his arrest.

As of Monday afternoon, Harris is behind bars in the Wichita County Jail on a combined bond of $48,500.
