WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A convicted felon is behind bars again after police found drugs and guns during a traffic stop.
Around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, Wichita Falls police pulled over a 2010 silver Nissan for a traffic stop in the 1600 block of 13th Street.
During the stop, officers smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A search of the driver and passenger was then conducted.
While searching the passenger, officers found a clear plastic bag with a crystal substance inside a fanny pack he was wearing. The substance was tested at the scene, and showed a positive result for methamphetamine, weighing nearly half a gram.
Officers also found a stolen .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun in the passenger's fanny pack.
Police ran a check on the passenger, identified as 36-year-old Charles Wilburn, and found that he was a convicted felon.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a cigar box with marijuana under Wilburn's seat.
Wilburn was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance under a gram, Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces, Theft of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
The driver was not charged.
