WFPD officers wake up sleeping wanted man and arrest him

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A Wichita Falls man is behind bars after being woken up by officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department.

On Monday, around 3:00 pm officers were dispatched to a home in the 1400 block of Harris Lane where a person with warrants was believed to be.

When police arrived on scene they spoke to a woman asking if Justin Travis Heard, 25, was inside. The woman said she did not know because she had been sleeping.

Officers asked her for consent to search the home and she allowed it. According to the WFPD, Heard was found sleeping in a back bedroom of the home.

Officers woke him up and told him he was being arrested for warrants. That is when they said Heard jumped out of a back window.

Heard was chased by officers shortly before being taken into custody. Heard has been charged with Evading Arrest, Theft Over $2,500 Under $30,000 and a Parole Violation.

His combined bond is $20,000.
