Authorities on the look out for patient who escaped from North Texas State Hospital in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A code red alert was sent out to residents near the North Texas State Hospital's Wichita Falls campus Wednesday afternoon.

The North Texas State Hospital provides psychiatric services for people whose mental health is suffering.

The message read,"Watch for an escapee from the State Hospital.  White male, 6 foot, brown hair, thin build wearing a jogging suit.  Do not approach, call 9 1 1 if seen."

Wichita Falls Police Sergeant Harold McClure told Newschannel 6 that they have suspended the search. But units will be on the lookout for the subject.

Sgt. McClure said this morning a patient jumped the fence and the WFPD were part of a search to locate him.

Wichita County Sheriff's Office Deputy Melvin Joyner said county units aided in the search as well.
