WICHITA COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) - Nearly eight pounds of marijuana and more than $11,000 in cash lands a man behind bars in Wichita County.
On July 28, a DPS Trooper observed a speeding vehicle along U.S. 287.
During the traffic stop, the trooper could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The trooper also noticed a paper with hand written directions on it from Texarkana to Colorado in the passenger seat.
The trooper asked the driver, Brandon Thompson, 39, to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search.
During a search of the vehicle, 7.88 lbs of marijuana, 1,780 grams of THC edibles and $11,400 in cash was found.
Thompson was interviewed by DPS Special Agents after he was taken into custody. During that interview, officials said Thompson made statements that confirmed the money was being used in conjunction with criminal activity.
Thompson was booked into the Wichita County Jail and has since been released.
