WICHITA COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) - A design for the new Wichita County jail and Law Enforcement Center is just about complete. On Monday, commissioners got to see the layout for the first time.
Architects have been working with a county jail committee every Thursday on a design. Wichita County Judge, Woody Gossom, said they are too early in the process for specific details, but is encouraged with the progress.
"Today was just that big picture of how the buildings would lay out and look," Judge Gossom said. "After the Construction Manager At Risk is selected, then we'll see the details start."
This week the jail committee will interview construction companies, and then commissioners will vote on a Construction Manager At Risk on August 28.
Judge Gossom said that is when they will start to have more details on the project. Last November, a $70 million bond was passed by the citizens for the new jail.
