WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Students at one Wichita Falls elementary school will be getting some much-needed school supplies when they walk into class on Thursday.
Sewell Toyota and Legacy Church in Wichita Falls teamed up to ask for residents help in the way of school supply donations.
A supply list was provided and organizers said the response was incredible. The principal of Burgess Elementary said these drives support the overall education process.
"It means everything for us. I think that you see that teachers are spending their own money often times on supplies and students may or may not have the things they need for class. So, I think that taking a huge donation like this is just a huge help because it puts the focus back on the learning rather than the implementation of supplies," principal Jeff Hill said.
About $1,000 worth of supplies were dropped off Monday. The WFISD 2017-2018 school year begins this Thursday.
