Wichita Falls city leaders close to finalizing deal for downtown hotel

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Wichita Falls city leaders believe they are close to finalizing a deal with Gatehouse Capital for a new Doubletree hotel and conference center near the MPEC but are not quite there yet.

On Tuesday, councilors passed an ordinance to designate 300 Travis Street a reinvestment zone. City Attorney, Kinley Hegglund, said it is one of the last steps in the process before passing the project.

That could happen on September 5.The change will also include a ten-year abatement to Gatehouse Capital. Incentives like these are commonly offered by governments for big development projects.
