Harvey donations end up in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

A trailer from Colorado filled with donations was stopped in Wichita Falls after it headed to Houston.

The donations were collected at a Colorado motorcycle dealership and they were expected on Wednesday. On the way there the driver got a call telling them to turn back around.

Southeast Texas nonprofits just do not have room to store the items after a large number of donations they have gotten.

That is when the group who collected the donations decided to give it all to Faith Mission in Wichita Falls. The Faith Mission CEO, Steve Sparks, says it is a blessing.

"We're thankful for the support we received all the way from Colorado. It’s just indicative of how God has taken care of us and taken care of all the needs of Wichita Falls as well as Houston," Sparks said.

The trailer was filled with new clothes, blankets, and non-perishable food. Sparks says it came just in time for Texoma Gives.

Faith Resale is hosting a big celebration on Thursday and now they have a lot of fresh items to put out on the resale's floor.

We talked to the group that organized the drive in Colorado and they say those who donated were sent an email explaining what happened to the donations.

The State of Texas is asking those who have collected items for hurricane Harvey to please consider donating them to a non-profit organization in your community.
