Families walk for Muscular Dystrophy

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Families in Wichita Falls put on their walking shoes Saturday for a cause to end Muscular Dystrophy.

The walk was held at Sikes Lake and was for family and friends who have lost loved ones to muscular dystrophy and other diseases like ALS.

Participants started the walk with a balloon release and a memorial of their loved ones.

One girl walked in memory of her mom and wanted to bring awareness.

"We walk to find a cure," said Megan Ermis.  "Your family member may not ever get this and I pray that they don't, but if they do hopefully we can find a cure by then."

This is the third year for Megan's family to do the walk and the first year without her mom.

They walked today in honor of her mom's birthday.

This is the 15th year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association to do the walk.
