Hometown Pride Tour: Hayes General Store

BURKBURNETT, TX (KAUZ) -

Hayes General Store is a family own business, run by Jerry Hayes since 2012, but his ties, go back much further.

All the way back, to White's Auto Store that opened its doors in 1940.

"I grew up here," said Hayes.  "My dad started working here in 1979 for Weldon Nix.  I even worked here in the back in the old tire shop."

In 1991, Hayes' dad bought the business from Nix, and changed the name to "Hayes General Store."

The name changed, but what they did stayed the same, selling everything for your home and auto needs.

"We have just a little bit of everything," said Hayes.  "We didn't change any of what we are doing.  We're doing the same thing that has always been here, except now it's a little mom and pop shop.

When Jerry Hayes took over in 2012, he wanted to keep customer service and knowledge of the products his number one priority.

"Honesty and good service that's it," said Hayes.  "That's what it's all based on."

Hayes General store has recently expanded. In 2015, they added a hardware store down the street from their current location.
