MSU shines a light on mental illness

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - October 1 through the 7 is Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Midwestern State University is putting on several events to shed light on this issue.

Monday guest speaker, Jessica Cartwright, Executive Director of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), will be speaking about mental illness at the Clark Student Center at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public.

LeaAnn Reyes, the President of MSU's Social Workers Acting Together, said with a lot of Caribbean students being affected by the recent hurricanes, as well as the loss of Robert Gray's, she feels like it is important to bring awareness to anxiety and depression.
