WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - An outside group is coming to Wichita Falls to help city leaders in their efforts to revitalize downtown.
On Tuesday, city councilors passed a resolution to spend $149,000 to hire Freese and Nichols Inc. to help identify a core area of downtown to revitalize, concepts and designs for sidewalks and landscaping, and helping rezone the area.
Deputy City Manager, Jim Dockery, said the consultant will help speed up the process.
"With their expertise, we feel like we could hit the ground running and not flounder throughout the process," Dockery said. "They can keep us on task and we can get this accomplished quickly."
Freese and Nichols will begin on October 13 and also help the finance committee work with property owners.
On September 22 the 4B board recommended the city invest in the company.
