Murder Investigation: Son named as person of interest

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

UPDATE: Wichita Falls PD detectives are looking for 42-year-old Damon Jason McLellan as a person of interest in the murder in the 4100 block of Thomas Ave. 

Newschannel 6 has learned Damon McLellan is the son of victim Madonna McLellan, 69.

Detectives are asking for the help of the public in locating him. If you have any information as to his whereabouts please contact police at (940) 720-5000.

The Wichita Falls Police Department said it is now investigating an unattended death as a murder. 

Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Thomas Avenue in reference to a check welfare call. 

When police arrived, the found a woman, later identified as Madonna McLellan, 69, in one of the bedrooms, deceased. 

WFPD said in any case of an unattended death it is proper policy for the police department to have detectives with the Crimes Against Person Unit respond to the scene. 

McLellan's body was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy. It was discovered McLellan suffered a traumatic injury. 

Detectives believe McLellan was specifically targeted and have no evidence to indicate the public is in any danger. 

Officials said in order to preserve the integrity of future witness statements, the specifics surrounding the cause of death are being withheld at this time.
