South Dakota man arrested after high-speed chase in Texoma

ELECTRA, TX (KAUZ) - A man from South Dakota led law enforcement officers from Oklahoma and Texas on a high-speed chase late Monday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m. DPS officials said Ozzie Richard Birdsong, 32, failed to stop for Oklahoma Highway Patrol in Cotton County.

Birdsong fled south on I-44 into Texas crossing the Red River. Birdsong then turned onto State Highway 240 West toward Burkburnett where DPS Troopers joined the pursuit.

Officials said Birdsong was driving a stolen 2018 Dodge Challenger from Four Stars Auto Ranch in Henrietta sometime in the last 24-hours.

The chase came to an end when Birdsong crashed at the intersection of FM 1739 and Payton Road in Electra. Birdsong was arrested and taken to United Regional with minor injuries.

OHP will take Birdsong back to Oklahoma where he will face multiple charges.
