WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

A currently serving Wichita Falls City Councilor is expected to announce his candidacy for Wichita County Treasurer on Tuesday morning.

District Four Councilor, Jesse Brown, is holding a press conference at 10:00 a.m. on the Wichita County Courthouse front steps.

In a press release Brown stated, "Through many prayers and conversations, I have decided to run for Wichita County Treasurer. My passion for our community's future, coupled with recent events, strengthens my commitment to serve."

Items Brown said he is running to improve include accountability, fiscal policies and expenditures, and community's economic development.

"In order for our community to move forward, we need good people to stand up and shoulder responsibility. I am standing up. I promise to bring innovative ideas, energy, dedication, and accountability to our county government," Brown said in a statement.

The County Treasurer position is currently held by Bob Hampton who was elected to the position in 2004. There is no term limit for this seat and Tuesday morning Hampton confirmed to Newschannel 6 he plans to run again.

Brown will be able to serve as city councilor during the election. If he wins the county seat he would have to give up his position on the city council whenever he takes over his new position.
